These plants will also give you a headstart over bare-root crowns this autumn. Asparagus takes 3 years to start giving a full crop. In Year 1 you don't take anything; Year 2 you take half the fresh spears and leave the rest. Only when you get to Year 3 can you take the full crop of delicious Asparagus. We have done the first year's growing for you so you can enjoy a small crop next spring, and prepare for bumper harvests the following year.
